Biography

Oleksandr Hryhorovych Semeniuk was born on November 17, 1986, in the village of Lastivtsi, Khmelnytskyi region. From a young age, he showed diligence and a love for learning. He studied at the Kamianets-Podilskyi Medical College, where he trained in the faculty of “Medical Practice” and received the qualification of a feldsher. Later, he continued his education at the Kamianets-Podilskyi National University named after Ivan Ohienko, graduating as a teacher of biology.

Oleksandr lived in Khmelnytskyi, where he built a strong family life with his wife. Together, they raised three children -daughters Daria and Ivanna, and son Vladyslav. In civilian life, he was remembered as a kind and hardworking man. He enjoyed spending time with friends, fishing, and tending to his beekeeping, which became his greatest passion.

Since 2007, Oleksandr served in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, where he gained respect for his professionalism and dedication. He took part in the ATO/OOS operations, defending Ukraine during the years of hybrid war. Within the 1st Donetsk Border Guard Detachment, he held the position of a medical instructor, providing vital assistance to his comrades.

With the outbreak of Russia’s full-scale invasion in February 2022, Oleksandr once again stood in defense of his homeland. He served with the Sartana Border Guard Unit and the Azov Regiment, taking part in the defense of Mariupol. His call sign was “Sania”, and he became known among his comrades for his courage and resilience.

On March 17, 2022, during the defense of Mariupol, Oleksandr Semeniuk was killed as a result of enemy tank and artillery shelling.
He was buried in his native village of Lastivtsi, Khmelnytskyi region.

For his bravery, Oleksandr was posthumously awarded the Medal “Participant in Combat Operations” and the Order for Courage, 3rd Class. He was also honored with the title of Honorary Citizen of Khmelnytskyi Territorial Community.

Oleksandr is remembered as a loving father, husband, and a courageous defender of Ukraine.
