Biography
Volodymyr Mykhailovych Koval was born on May 18, 1954, in the village of Nova Kozacha, Kharkiv region. From a young age he was hardworking and dedicated to his family. He married early and chose to focus on providing for his loved ones rather than pursuing higher education. Over the years he worked in different jobs, always striving to give his best.
Volodymyr was among those who took part in the liquidation of the Chornobyl disaster, an experience that left a lasting mark on his health. Despite the challenges, he returned home and later devoted himself to entrepreneurship, building a livelihood that supported his family. He was remembered as a caring father who always put his daughters first, especially during difficult times.
On April 15, 2022, Volodymyr set out with his daughters Yuliia and Tetiana to Kharkiv to collect food and medicine for their community, which was suffering under occupation. On the way back, near the village of Turove in Bohodukhiv district, their minibus was struck by a powerful explosion - either enemy fire or a hidden mine. All three were killed instantly.
Due to the ongoing fighting, the family was initially buried near the site of the tragedy. Later, after the de‑occupation of the region, their remains were reburied in Nova Kozacha, where they rest together.
Volodymyr left behind his wife Iryna, a sister, and grandchildren.
He is remembered as a devoted husband and father, a man of resilience and sacrifice whose life was dedicated to his family and community. His memory endures in the hearts of those who knew him.
