Biography
Oleksandr Olehovych Kolesnychenko was born on March 6, 1995, in the village of Vypasne, Odesa region. He grew up in a large and loving family, being the eldest brother to four sisters. Surrounded by care and warmth, Oleksandr developed a kind and open character, always protective of his siblings. His childhood was marked by simplicity and responsibility, and he carried these values into adulthood.
After completing nine grades at Vypasne Secondary School No.2, Oleksandr began working to support himself. He first took jobs at the local market and as a loader, later moving to Odesa where he studied to become a lathe operator on CNC machines. He worked at the “Stalkanat” factory and later at the central warehouse of “Nova Poshta.” In civilian life, he also served as a security guard in a rapid response group, demonstrating reliability and discipline. He was known for his energy, determination, and constant drive to succeed.
With the outbreak of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Oleksandr returned to his native village and continued working until he was mobilized on March 20, 2024. After training in Kirovohrad region, he was assigned to the 57th Separate Motorized Infantry Brigade named after Koshovyi Otaman Kost Hordiienko, serving in the 17th Battalion as a gunner. His comrades gave him the call sign “Bars,” reflecting the battalion’s tradition of feline nicknames. He fought bravely in Pechenihy and later took part in the liberation of Vovchansk in Kharkiv region.
On May 20, 2024, during combat in Vovchansk, Oleksandr sustained severe injuries. Despite receiving first aid from his comrades, he remained on the battlefield for many hours before being evacuated to the Main Military Clinical Hospital in Kyiv. His condition was critical, and on June 1, 2024, he passed away at the age of 29.
His sacrifice was honored with the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class.
Oleksandr Kolesnychenko was laid to rest in his native village of Vypasne, Odesa region.
He is remembered as a devoted son, a caring brother, and a fearless defender of Ukraine. His life, though short, was marked by resilience, kindness, and unwavering loyalty to his homeland. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, comrades, and Ukrainian people.
