Biography
Danylo Serhiiovych Zinchenko was born on March 4, 1999, in Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. He grew up in a faithful family, known for his honesty, kindness, and sense of justice. From childhood, he showed resilience and determination. He attended art school, later turning to boxing and mixed martial arts, which strengthened his character and discipline. Danylo loved animals and often reflected on their loyalty and unconditional devotion.
He completed his studies at Kryvyi Rih Vocational Mining and Metallurgical Lyceum, where he trained as a locomotive driver. After graduation, he worked for two years as a driver at the company “Vestashliakhbud,” earning respect from colleagues and supervisors. In 2019, he fulfilled his mandatory military service, which deepened his commitment to defending his homeland.
In 2021, Danylo signed a contract with the National Guard of Ukraine. He served in military unit 3011 as a squad commander in the mortar battery of the operational battalion. His comrades knew him by the call sign “Zidan,” a name that reflected his energy and spirit.
On February 8, 2022, he was deployed to Mariupol, where he and his unit took up defensive positions on the western side of the city. During the siege of Mariupol, Danylo fought with courage and determination.
On April 10, 2022, he was killed by an enemy sniper’s bullet.
His sacrifice was recognized with the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class, and the honorary distinction “For Services to the City.”
Danylo Zinchenko was laid to rest in Kryvyi Rih, in the sector of honorary burials at the Vsebratske Cemetery.
His memory lives on as that of a devoted son of Ukraine, a loyal comrade, and a fearless defender whose sacrifice will forever be kept in the hearts of his nation.
