Biography
Svitlana Oleksandrivna Zenchenko was born on January 29, 1969, in the town of Semenivka, Chernihiv region. From her youth she was drawn to music.
After finishing school, she studied at the Chernihiv Music College named after Levko Revutsky, where she trained as a teacher of bayan and accordion. Her life was dedicated to art and education, and she spent decades teaching children in the Semenivka music school, inspiring them to discover the joy of music.
Svitlana married and returned to her native town, where she built her family life while continuing her teaching career. She was known for her devotion to students, believing that true learning required personal guidance and practice. Even during wartime, she remained committed to her work, striving to provide lessons despite the challenges.
Beyond music, she enjoyed caring for her household and had a passion for poultry farming. She raised turkeys and even ordered a special breed of hens that laid red eggs, delighting her family during Easter. Friends and relatives remembered her as sincere, cheerful, and the soul of any gathering.
On April 9, 2024, tragedy struck. While returning home from school on her bicycle, Semenivka came under heavy shelling from Russian forces. A shell exploded nearby, and Svitlana was killed instantly.
She was buried in her hometown.
Svitlana Zenchenko is remembered as a devoted teacher, wife, and mother, a woman whose life was filled with music, kindness, and care. Her memory endures in her husband, son, daughter, and all who knew her.
