Biography

Zbarskyi Mykhailo Yakovych was born on September 8, 1943, in evacuation in Uzbekistan, where his mother Hanna found refuge after escaping deportation during the war. His father, Yakov, perished in a concentration camp, and Mykhailo grew up with the memory of a father he never met. After the war, his mother returned to Kyiv, where she raised him with resilience and care.

Mykhailo studied at the Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, showing talent in mathematics and engineering. He became a construction engineer, respected for his precision and dedication. In the 1970s, he moved to Kharkiv, where he built a new life with his wife Tamara. Together they raised two children, Olena and Serhii, creating a warm and supportive family environment.

He was known for his calm character, love of reading, and interest in history. Despite health challenges later in life, he remained devoted to his family. Mykhailo suffered from type II diabetes, which led to complications. Several surgeries on his leg were required due to gangrene, and during one operation a blood clot caused his sudden death on September 3, 2010.

Mykhailo is remembered as a devoted husband and father, a man of integrity and perseverance who carried forward the legacy of his family through difficult times. His life stands as a testament to survival, renewal, and dedication to those he loved.
