Biography
Ivanna Stepanivna Zarashchak was born on July 7, 1984, in the village of Koti, Lviv region. Her childhood and school years passed in her native community, where she grew up surrounded by family and friends. After completing her education, she trained as a seamstress at the Novoiavorivsk Vocational School and later worked in the garment industry. Known for her diligence and kindness, Ivanna was willing to take on any task and was especially devoted to children, always seeking opportunities to help and support them.
In 2020, Ivanna made the decision to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She became part of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, serving as a communications specialist. Her choice reflected her strong sense of duty and patriotism, as she stepped forward to defend her country alongside her comrades.
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, Ivanna continued her service on the front lines in Donetsk region. She carried out her responsibilities with determination and courage, working shoulder to shoulder with fellow soldiers. Her presence brought encouragement and positivity even in the most difficult moments, and she was remembered for her ability to uplift those around her with her optimism and resilience.
On May 5, 2022, during a missile strike on the city of Siversk in Donetsk region, Ivanna was killed in action.
Her sacrifice was honored with the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class, awarded posthumously.
Ivanna Zarashchak was laid to rest in her native village of Koti, Lviv region. She is remembered as a devoted daughter, a kind-hearted woman, and a fearless defender of Ukraine. Her life and service stand as a testament to strength, compassion, courage, and unwavering patriotism.
