Biography
Vitalii Serhiiovych Serhiienko was born on February 12, 1980, in Chernihiv. From his youth he was known for his diligence and kindness. He studied to become an electrician, completing vocational school, technical college, and later an institute. He worked at the “Khymvolokno” enterprise and later at “Sporttekhnika,” where his skills and reliability earned him respect among colleagues.
Vitalii lived in a private house in Chernihiv together with his sister and her family. He was a devoted son and brother, always helping his parents during their lifetime and later becoming a strong support for his sister. Neighbors often turned to him for help with electrical work, and he never refused anyone.
On March 5, 2022, during the full‑scale invasion, a Russian aircraft bombed Chernihiv. The plane was shot down by Ukrainian defenders, and the pilot Oleksandr Krasnoiartsev ejected, landing on the roof of Vitalii’s home. When Vitalii went outside to see what had happened and to offer help, he encountered the armed pilot. Without warning, the pilot shot and killed him in his own yard.
He was buried the next day at the Zabarivka cemetery, beside his parents. His sister continues to honor his memory, visiting his grave and recalling his kindness and support.
Vitalii Serhiienko is remembered as a hardworking electrician, a caring brother, and a man of integrity whose life was taken unjustly. His memory lives in the hearts of his family, colleagues, and all who knew him.
