Biography
Volodymyr Serhiiovych Vailo was born on May 14, 1985, in the village of Kamyanske, Zaporizhzhia region. He attended the local school and later studied at the Vasyliv Vocational Lyceum, where he trained as a cook. Though he mastered this profession, his true passion was automobiles and driving. Behind the wheel, he felt at home, combining skill with responsibility.
In December 2007, Volodymyr signed a contract with the National Guard of Ukraine, beginning his military career in the 19th Separate Battalion. In 2018, he transferred to the 23rd Separate Brigade for Public Order Protection “Khortytsia,” where he served as a driver. His role was more than a duty - it was a responsibility for the lives of those around him, and he carried it with honor and reliability.
Volodymyr built a family life alongside his service. In 2011, he married, and two years later welcomed a daughter, followed by a son in 2020. He was a devoted husband and father, deeply committed to his family, and cherished every moment spent with his children.
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, Volodymyr was stationed in Mariupol. He took part in the heroic defense of the city, standing with his comrades at the Azovstal steel plant. On April 20, 2022, during the fierce battles for Mariupol, he was killed by an enemy sniper.
For his bravery and sacrifice, Volodymyr Vailo was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class.
His body has not yet been returned, but his memory lives on in the hearts of his family, comrades, and all who honor his service.
Volodymyr is remembered as a loyal soldier, a loving husband, and a caring father. His life, marked by devotion to both family and country, stands as a testament to courage and sacrifice. He remains forever a symbol of resilience and patriotism, a defender of Ukraine whose legacy endures.
