Biography
Vitalii Ivanovych Shyshaliuk was born on February 28, 1997, in the city of Radiviliv, Rivne region. He studied at the Lviv Interregional Higher School of Railway Transport, where he gained technical skills that later shaped his professional path. Before the war, he worked at “Elektrokontakt Ukraine” as a specialist in production preparation and prototyping. Outside of work, he enjoyed football and was remembered as an energetic and determined young man.
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Vitalii joined the defense of Ukraine. He first served in the 710th Separate Brigade of the State Special Transport Service, where he fought as an assault soldier. Despite being wounded, he returned to service, continuing his military path in the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. His comrades gave him the call sign “Dzhmil” (Bumblebee), a reflection of his tireless energy and dedication to his duties.
Vitalii fought in some of the most difficult areas of the front, including Bakhmut and Marinka. His courage saved the lives of fellow soldiers, and he was known for his ability to inspire others even in the darkest moments. His devotion to his comrades and family was unwavering, and he carried with him a spirit of resilience and hope.
On October 11, 2024, during combat near the village of Hryhorivka in Donetsk region, Vitalii was killed by an enemy drone strike.
For his bravery and sacrifice, he was awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class, the distinction “Golden Cross,” and the medal “For Blood Sacrifice in Battles for Ukraine.”
Vitalii Shyshaliuk was laid to rest in the village of Dubie, Lviv region.
He is remembered as a strong and courageous man, a loyal defender of Ukraine, and a loving father and husband. His legacy endures as a symbol of resilience, sacrifice, and devotion to the homeland.
