Biography
Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Shevchuk was born on April 10, 1975, in the village of Yurivske, Dnipropetrovsk region. He studied at a vocational school, where he trained as a tractor driver and mechanic. Later, he fulfilled his mandatory military service in the Naval Forces of Ukraine, gaining discipline and experience that shaped his path.
In civilian life, Volodymyr worked for many years at Pavlohradzernoproduct in the village of Varvarivka, and later at an oil mill in Novohryhorivka. He was known as a hardworking and reliable man, dedicated to his profession and respected by colleagues.
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, Volodymyr joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. From March of that year, he served as a mechanic-driver in the reconnaissance unit of the 74th Separate Reconnaissance Battalion. His comrades valued his resilience, responsibility, and patriotism, qualities that defined him both in civilian life and on the battlefield.
On January 22, 2024, during a combat mission near Avdiivka in Donetsk region, Volodymyr was killed in action.
His service and sacrifice were recognized with several honors, including the Medal “Veteran of War – Participant in Combat Operations,” the Medal “For the Indomitable Spirit,” and the distinction “Military Intelligence of Ukraine.”
Volodymyr Shevchuk was laid to rest in his native village of Yurivske, Dnipropetrovsk region.
His memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family, friends, and fellow soldiers, a lasting testament to his unwavering dedication to his homeland.
