Biography

Ihor Mykolaiovych Sharhorodskyi was born on February 23, 1982, in Kyiv, where he lived his entire life. After completing his studies at Kyiv Vocational Technical School No. 29, he trained as a carpenter and parquet installer. In civilian life, he worked as a furniture maker, dedicating himself to his craft with responsibility and care. His skill and diligence earned him respect among colleagues and clients alike, while his kindness and integrity defined him as a person.

With the outbreak of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Ihor volunteered to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He became part of the 131st Battalion of the 112th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, serving as a soldier under the call sign “Sharik.” His decision reflected his deep sense of duty and patriotism, as he chose to defend his homeland at a time of great peril.

On October 16, 2022, during combat near the village of Yampilivka in Donetsk region, Ihor was killed while carrying out a mission.
His sacrifice was honored by his comrades and family, who remembered him as a devoted husband, a man of principle, and a true defender of Ukraine. His wife recalled his kindness, fairness, and readiness to help others, qualities that made him not only a warrior but also a cherished companion in life.

Ihor Sharhorodskyi was laid to rest at Berkovetske Cemetery in his native Kyiv. His memory endures as that of a loyal son of Ukraine, a man who gave his life for freedom, he will always be remembered with love and honor.
