Biography

Oleksandr Kostiantynovych Shapovalov was born on February 1, 1987, in the settlement of Holovanivsk, Kirovohrad region. He completed secondary school there and later studied at the local vocational college, where he trained as an electrician. After fulfilling his mandatory military service, Oleksandr moved to Kyiv. For a time he worked in the security service at the “Arsenalna” metro station, and later earned his living as a taxi driver.

In 2018, Oleksandr married and began building a family life. He was known as a caring son and a devoted husband, always attentive to the needs of his loved ones. His mother remembered him as her only son, her hope and support, someone who constantly worried about whether she had everything she needed.

Eventually, Oleksandr found work at a wholesale food base in Kyiv, where he was employed at the time of the full‑scale war. On August 30, 2023, tragedy struck. Russian forces launched a missile attack on the capital, and one of the rockets hit the food base where Oleksandr was working. He was killed instantly from the injuries he sustained.

Oleksandr was buried in his native Holovanivsk, where his family and community gathered to honor his memory.

He is remembered as a hardworking man, a loving son, and a devoted husband whose life was cut short by war. His memory lives on in the hearts of his family and all who knew and loved him.
