Biography
Oleksandr Vasylovych Shapoval was a professional welder, a defender of Ukraine, an avid traveler, and a man with a big, generous heart. Welding was the craft of his life, and his devotion to his family and homeland defined his ultimate choice in a time of trial.
Life Chronicle
August 14, 1975 - Born in the town of Polohy, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, where he spent his childhood and youth.
Education - Graduated from Polohy Secondary School No. 2, earning his diploma and making his first lifelong friends.
Vocational Training - Driven by a passion for working with metal, he entered the Polohy Vocational Lyceum, where he mastered the welding trade.
Career Beginnings - Started his professional journey at the branch of the Zaporizhzhia Abrasive Plant.
1994 - Drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he honorably completed his mandatory military service.
Work in Polohy - After completing his military service, he returned to work in his hometown, contributing to key local enterprises:
Branch of the Zaporizhzhia Abrasive Plant;
"Shliakhbud" Enterprise;
CJSC "Mineral".
2000 - Relocated to the city of Zaporizhzhia. He continued working in his beloved field, earning strong professional respect among his colleagues through high skill and dedication.
2022 - Following russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, he stepped forward to defend his homeland, his home, and his family.
February 15, 2025 - Oleksandr Vasylovych was killed in action. He is survived by his wife and daughter.
He was laid to rest at the Kapustyane Cemetery in Zaporizhzhia.
Passions and Character
Despite moving to the regional center, Oleksandr always maintained a deep connection to his roots. Polohy remained his "place of strength," a town he revisited regularly while fondly remembering his school and student years.
He was a remarkably kind, sincere, and cheerful person. His favorite passions included:
Traveling - A lifelong passion for exploring new horizons;
Mountaineering - Conquering mountain peaks;
Fishing - Finding peace and harmony in nature.
Oleksandr Vasylovych leaves behind a bright and enduring memory in the hearts of all who knew him - as a dependable friend, a true master of his trade, a courageous defender, and a loving husband and father.
