Biography
Oleksii Oleksandrovych Reut was born on April 3, 1985, in the city of Myrhorod, Poltava region. He studied at the Taras Shevchenko Gymnasium and later graduated from Vocational School No.44, where he trained as an electrician. After completing his mandatory military service, Oleksii settled in Bucha, Kyiv region. In civilian life, he worked as an installer of ventilation and air conditioning systems, combining technical skill with dedication. He loved cars, constantly improving them, and enjoyed films, computer games, and sports.
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, Oleksii joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine in June. He served in the 26th Separate Rifle Battalion, where he commanded a squad. His comrades knew him by his call sign “Suslik,” and he quickly earned respect for his courage, reliability, and leadership.
His service was recognized with the “Golden Cross” distinction awarded by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On February 25, 2024, during heavy fighting near the village of Berdychi in Donetsk region, Oleksii was fatally wounded by enemy shelling while carrying out a combat mission.
His sacrifice was a profound loss to his family, friends, and fellow soldiers, who remembered him as a man of honesty, kindness, and bravery.
Oleksii Reut was laid to rest in his native city of Myrhorod, Poltava region.
His memory will live on among his loved ones and those who stood beside him. The Junior Sergeant Oleksii Reut's legacy will continue to inspire as a powerful example of a devoted son of Ukraine, a skilled professional, and a fearless defender.
