Biography
Roman Romanovych Parakikevych was born on January 18, 1996, in the city of Drohobych, Lviv region. He grew up in his native community, where he attended Secondary School No. 10 and later studied at Vocational School No.15, specializing as an auto mechanic. After completing his education, he worked at the automobile crane factory, where he proved himself as a diligent and skilled worker. His life was marked by simplicity, hard work, and devotion to his family.
On February 24, 2023, Roman joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, answering the call to defend his homeland. He served in the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade, holding the position of rifleman-sniper in the 2nd airmobile unit of the 1st airmobile platoon. Known by his call sign “Yunysha,” he quickly earned the respect of his comrades for his courage, discipline, and unwavering commitment to duty.
On September 28, 2023, during fierce battles near the settlement of Bilohorivka in Luhansk region, Roman sustained fatal mine-fragment wounds while carrying out a combat mission.
His sacrifice was recognized with the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class, awarded posthumously. Roman was laid to rest in the village of Dolishniy Luzhok, Lviv region, where his family, friends, and community gathered to honor his memory.
Roman’s loved ones remembered him as brave, hardworking, and determined, a man who never complained and always supported those around him. His legacy endures as that of a devoted son of Ukraine, a fearless defender, and a true patriot whose sacrifice will forever remain in the hearts of his family, comrades, and nation.
