Biography
Ihor Bohdanovych Kupetskyi was born on July 15, 1989, in the village of Dvirtci, Lviv region. He grew up there, completing his studies at the local secondary school in 2006. From 2006 to 2008, he attended the Stavropigiyskyi Vocational Lyceum in Lviv, where he trained as a carpenter and craftsman specializing in artistic woodwork.
After graduation, Ihor worked various jobs to support himself and his family. In 2017, he found his true calling in woodworking and joined the company “Palettenwerk Ukraine,” where he was employed until the outbreak of war. His dedication to his craft reflected his perseverance and sense of responsibility.
On July 8, 2024, Ihor was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in military unit A4689, initially as a machine gunner in the 1st Mechanized Platoon of the 8th Mechanized Company, later taking on the role of driver-electrician in the mortar battery. His service was marked by discipline, courage, and loyalty to his comrades. He took part in combat operations during the “Kursk Operation,” where he faced the harsh realities of war.
On October 24, 2024, Ihor went missing in action during a mission near the settlement of Vesele in Kursk region. For months, his family held onto hope that he might return alive. Tragically, nine months later, DNA analysis confirmed his death. He had sustained fatal injuries from a mine explosion and shrapnel wounds in the combat zone.
On August 5, 2025, Ihor Kupetskyi was laid to rest in his native village of Dvirtci. His sacrifice is remembered as an enduring testament to courage and devotion.
Posthumously, he was honored with the title “Hero of Velyki Mosty Territorial Community.”
Ihor is remembered not only as a soldier but as a kind, sincere, and supportive man whose warmth touched everyone around him. His memory lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew him, a symbol of resilience and love for Ukraine.
