Biography
Oleh Volodymyrovych Kevan was born on June 22, 1982, in the settlement of Ivano-Frankove, Lviv region. He grew up in his native community, where he completed his schooling and later studied at the Artistic Vocational School named after Yosyp Stanko. A man of many interests, he was passionate about collecting old coins and was remembered for his kindness, optimism, and devotion to his family and friends. He lived in Novoiavorivsk, where he built his life surrounded by loved ones.
With the outbreak of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, Oleh did not hesitate to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He first served in the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, where he endured heavy fighting and sustained injuries. After recovery, he continued his service in the 68th Separate Jaeger Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush, holding the position of rifleman and assistant grenadier. Known by his call sign “Kiesha,” he was respected by his comrades for his resilience, loyalty, and courage.
On October 29, 2022, during fierce battles near the village of Pavlivka in Donetsk region, Oleh was killed in action.
Due to the occupation of the territory, his body could not be recovered from the battlefield, and his family was unable to bury him with full honors. His death was later confirmed through official recognition by the court.
For his bravery and sacrifice, Oleh Kevan was posthumously awarded the “Hero’s Cross,” the “Combatant’s Cross,” and the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class. On October 25, 2024, his wife received the award on his behalf, honoring his memory and service.
Oleh is remembered as a devoted husband, caring father, and steadfast defender of Ukraine.
The legacy of Soldier Oleh Kevan stands as a lasting emblem of courage, strength, and devotion to his homeland. His sacrifice will always be remembered by his loved ones, brothers-in-arms, and everyone who knew him.
