Biography

Denys Volodymyrovych Kaharlytskyi was born on November 15, 1985, in Kyiv. He completed his studies at Secondary School No. 271 in the capital and later pursued entrepreneurial activities in the field of advertising production and placement. Alongside his professional work, Denys was active in social service volunteering, always ready to contribute to his community. From childhood, he was passionate about sailing, and throughout his life he enjoyed skiing, parachuting, and spending time outdoors with his family. He also loved cinema, favoring science fiction, thrillers, action films, and documentaries.

Denys met his future wife in Crimea during a rehabilitation camp. Despite the distance between them, their bond grew stronger, and in 2014 they married. A year later, their son was born, becoming the center of their family life. Denys was a devoted husband and father, balancing his responsibilities with warmth and care.

When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, Denys did not hesitate to defend his homeland. He joined the 112th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade, serving as a reconnaissance machine gunner in the reconnaissance platoon. Known by his call sign “Den,” he fought with courage and determination, standing firm alongside his comrades in the most dangerous conditions.

On May 30, 2022, during combat operations near the city of Hirske in Luhansk region, Denys was killed in an enemy artillery strike.

His sacrifice was recognized with the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class, awarded posthumously.

Denys Kaharlytskyi was laid to rest at Lisove Cemetery in Kyiv.

He is remembered as a loyal son of Ukraine, a loving husband and father, and a man of principle whose life embodied resilience, kindness, and devotion. The memory of his life and sacrifice will live on among his loved ones and those who stood beside him.
