Biography

Vitalii Valeriiovych Filipets was born on June 12, 1978, in the city of Chernivtsi. He grew up and studied there, completing his secondary education before beginning his adult life. In 2013, he married his beloved Maria, and soon after they welcomed their son, Ivan. Vitalii cherished his family deeply and looked forward to guiding his son through school and life, imagining the simple joys of fatherhood alongside his responsibilities.

When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in February 2022, Vitalii felt compelled to defend his homeland. In the spring, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine, serving in the 10th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. He was deployed to Donetsk region, where he carried out combat missions with courage and determination. Despite the hardships of war, he remained connected to his family whenever possible, expressing his longing and devotion to them.

On September 26, 2022, while performing a mission near the village of Berestove in Donetsk region, Vitalii was killed in a tank strike.
His death was a profound loss to his family, friends, and comrades, who remembered him as a devoted husband, loving father, and steadfast defender of Ukraine.

Vitalii Filipets was laid to rest on the Alley of Glory at the Central Cemetery in his native Chernivtsi.
His memory endures as that of a man who gave his life for the freedom of his country, leaving behind a legacy of courage, love, and sacrifice that will forever remain in the hearts of his family and his nation.
