Biography

Vasyl Mykolaiovych Drohomyretskyi was born on May 8, 1994, in the village of Bodnariv, Ivano-Frankivsk region. From childhood, he showed a passion for sports and discipline. He studied at the local school and later graduated from the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports at Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University. During his studies, he earned the title of Candidate Master of Sport in powerlifting, combining strength with perseverance. His dedication to self-improvement was reflected in his life motto, “Perfice te” - perfect yourself.

In 2015, Vasyl began his service in the Patrol Police of Ivano-Frankivsk. His professionalism and commitment led him to join the special unit “KORD” in Zakarpattia region in 2022. Known for his reliability and courage, he quickly became a respected officer and comrade. His call sign “Yenot” (Racoon) symbolized his energy and resilience.

When Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Vasyl volunteered to join the combined assault unit of the National Police of Ukraine, the “Safari” Regiment. From the first days of war, he fought in the defense of Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia. His bravery and leadership inspired those around him, and he became a source of strength and encouragement for his fellow fighters.

On May 22, 2022, near the village of Vilnoandriivka in Zaporizhzhia region, Vasyl was killed in a missile strike on his unit’s position.

His sacrifice was recognized with numerous honors, including the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class, awarded posthumously. He was also named Honorary Citizen of Ivano-Frankivsk and Kalush, and received medals for honor, valor, and defense of his homeland.

Vasyl Drohomyretskyi was laid to rest in his native village of Bodnariv.

He is remembered as a devoted son, husband, and father, a man of principle and kindness, and a fearless defender of Ukraine. The example he left behind stands as a lasting tribute to bravery and steadfast dedication to his country.
