Biography

Valerii Volodymyrovych Chornyi was born on April 16, 1999, in the village of Kamiany Mist, Kirovohrad region. He grew up in his native community and later lived in Kropyvnytskyi. After completing his studies at Kirovohrad Higher Vocational School No.4, he obtained a profession as a machine operator and CNC technician. He worked at the “Chervona Zirka” factory and later at the Sokolivskyi meat processing plant, where he proved himself as a diligent and responsible worker. His life was marked by simplicity, hard work, and devotion to his family and community.

When called to serve, Valerii did not hesitate. After completing his conscript service, he signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, joining the elite 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade. With the outbreak of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he fought alongside his comrades in some of the most difficult sectors of the front, carrying out combat missions with courage and determination.

On October 15, 2023, while defending the Bakhmut direction near the village of Klishchiivka in Donetsk region, Valerii was fatally wounded by enemy artillery fire.

His sacrifice was recognized with the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class, awarded posthumously.

He was laid to rest in the city of Novomyrhorod, Kirovohrad region, where his family, friends, and community honored him as a true defender of Ukraine.

Valerii’s comrades remembered him as fearless, steadfast, and devoted to his duty. His family and friends spoke of his honesty, bravery, and the way he inspired those around him. Though his life was cut short, his memory lives on as a symbol of resilience and sacrifice.

The legacy of Senior Soldier Valerii Chornyi endures in the hearts of his loved ones and fellow warriors. His courage and devotion to Ukraine’s freedom will forever remain an example of the strength and spirit of the nation’s defenders.
