Biography

Volodymyr Dmytrovych Chaika was born on August 9, 1992, in the village of Ozera, Kyiv region. From his youth he was known for his quiet nature and reliability. He worked as a storekeeper at a spare parts warehouse in Blystavytsia, where colleagues valued his diligence. At home he was a skilled handyman, always ready to help his mother, wife, or friends with household tasks.

Volodymyr built a family life with his wife, raising two young children. They lived in rented housing and dreamed of one day building their own home. In the evenings he enjoyed spending time with his family, sitting by a fire, gazing at the stars, and imagining the future.

On March 14, 2022, tragedy struck during the Russian occupation of Bucha. Volodymyr attempted to evacuate his family and relatives from the village of Ozera. Their car was part of a convoy of thirty vehicles marked with white flags and signs reading “Children.” As the convoy began to move, Russian forces opened fire. The first explosion hit the car carrying his mother, stepfather, and uncle, killing them instantly. Hearing his mother’s cry, Volodymyr stopped, left his vehicle, and was fatally struck by a direct shot.

Volodymyr left behind his wife, two children, and two sisters.
He is remembered as a devoted husband and father, a caring son, and a man of quiet strength whose life was cut short while trying to protect his family. His memory endures in the hearts of his loved ones and all who knew him.
