Biography
Anton Andriiovych Butkevych was born on February 8, 1999, in the town of Shpola, Cherkasy region. He studied at the local Lyceum No.2 and later graduated from the Smila Technological College of the National University of Food Technologies, earning a diploma as an electromechanical technician. In civilian life, Anton worked for the company “LNZ Group.” He enjoyed video games, outdoor activities, and spending time with friends, living with energy and optimism.
Anton’s path as a defender began in 2019 when he joined the National Guard of Ukraine. Until the spring of 2021, he took part in the Joint Forces Operation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, gaining valuable combat experience.
With the outbreak of Russia’s full-scale invasion in 2022, he returned to military service, this time in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a machine gunner in the 44th Separate Rifle Battalion, known among his comrades by the call sign “Marli.” His courage and reliability made him a trusted companion in battle.
On November 28, 2023, during combat near the village of Terny in Donetsk region, Anton was killed while carrying out a mission.
His sacrifice was deeply felt by his family, friends, and fellow soldiers, who remembered him as a brave young man who gave his life for the freedom of Ukraine.
He was laid to rest in his native Shpola, Cherkasy region.
The Senior Soldier Anton Butkevych will always be remembered as a devoted son of Ukraine, a loyal comrade, a fearless warrior of his homeland.
