Biography
Vira Yuriivna Anatii was born on July 28, 1985, in the city of Ochakiv, Mykolaiv region. She studied at School No. 1 and later graduated in 2007 from the Institute of Pedagogical Education at Mykolaiv National University named after Vasyl Sukhomlynskyi. That same year, she married Illia Anatii, a serviceman from the village of Serbychany in Chernivtsi region. Together, they built a family and raised two children.
In 2015, Vira chose to dedicate herself to military service and signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She served as head of the personnel group of the 29th Division of Surface Ships at the “Namiv” Naval Base of the Ukrainian Navy.
Her professionalism and commitment earned her officer rank, and she took part in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Donbas. Over the years, she advanced from sailor to lieutenant, proving herself as a capable and devoted officer.
On February 24, 2022, the first day of Russia’s full-scale invasion, Vira was killed in action when an enemy missile struck the ship (in Mykolaiv region) on which she was serving.
Her sacrifice was recognized with the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class, awarded posthumously.
Lieutenant Vira Anatii was laid to rest on March 20, 2022, in the village of Serbychany, Chernivtsi region, the homeland of her husband. Her family created a memorial corner in their home, preserving her insignia, medals, and personal belongings as a tribute to her life and service.
She is remembered as a devoted mother, loyal wife, and fearless defender of Ukraine. Her legacy endures in the hearts of her children, family, comrades, and all who honor her courage and patriotism.
