Biography
Serhii Viktorovych Zolotarov was born on December 22, 1980, in Lviv. He studied at Secondary School No.77, where he focused on economics and management, and later graduated from Vocational School No. 53. After completing his education, he fulfilled his mandatory military service in Crimea, gaining valuable experience that shaped his path.
In civilian life, Serhii worked in various enterprises, including “Mikro-F,” “Hal-Club,” and later at the private company “Terra-Pak.” He was known as a dedicated worker and enjoyed hobbies such as fishing and cars, which reflected his practical and thoughtful nature.
When Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, Serhii volunteered to defend his homeland. He joined the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after King Danylo, part of the Ground Forces of Ukraine.
Serving as a senior sergeant and chief sergeant of the 6th Company of the 2nd Battalion, he carried out combat missions on both the eastern and southern fronts, including the battles in Zaporizhzhia, Mykolaiv, Kherson, and the Bakhmut direction.
His comrades knew him by the call sign “Lysyi,” and he quickly earned respect for his courage and determination.
On December 3, 2022, near the village of Yakovlivka in Donetsk region, Serhii was killed in action. For some time, he was considered missing in action until his identity was confirmed.
His farewell ceremony took place on February 10, 2023, at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul in Lviv, and he was laid to rest at the Field of Honor in Lychakiv Cemetery.
For his bravery and sacrifice, Serhii Zolotarov was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class, the “Hero’s Cross” distinction from his brigade, and the Honorary Badge of Saint George from the city of Lviv.
As a brave defender of Ukraine and a loyal friend and comrade, Serhii dedicated his life to serving his homeland with strength and determination. His memory continues to be cherished by his family, friends, and brothers-in-arms.
