Biography

Serhii Volodymyrovych Shevtsov was born on June 23, 1986, in the city of Irpin, Kyiv region. From his youth he was known for his skillful hands and dedication to work. He studied at the Kyiv Center for Vocational Education, becoming an auto electrician.

Over the years he worked at the glass factory in Hostomel, operated forklifts, and together with his father installed and repaired boilers and water heaters. At night he often repaired phones and tablets for neighbors, never refusing to help.

Serhii lived in Hostomel with his mother, recovering from a serious leg injury sustained shortly before the full‑scale invasion. Despite his condition, he remained active and continued to support his family. Friends and neighbors remembered him as kind, hardworking, and always ready to lend assistance.

On March 20, 2022, during the occupation of Kyiv region, Serhii was abducted by Russian soldiers while walking near his home. Witnesses later confirmed that he was taken away on military equipment. For a long time his family had no information about his fate. In December 2023, his body was returned to Ukraine as part of an exchange, and DNA analysis confirmed his identity.

According to testimony, Serhii was transported through Belarus to Russia, where he was held in detention in Kursk. Despite his injuries, he was subjected to brutal beatings and torture. On March 23, 2022, his heart stopped, and he did not survive.

His remains were cremated and buried in the Lisova Bucha cemetery.

Serhii left behind his mother and sister.
He is remembered as a man of great skill and generosity, whose life was unjustly taken, but whose memory lasts in the hearts of his family and friends.
