Biography

Yevhenii Mykolaiovych Marenko was born on February 1, 1986, in the village of Vladyslavka, Obukhiv (formerly Myroniv) district, Kyiv region. A gifted student, he graduated from school with honors and later completed his studies at the Institute of International Relations, earning his degree with distinction.

In 2006, he settled in Bucha, where he built his life and career.

Yevhenii was passionate about sports, particularly athletics, and often competed successfully in local events. He worked for a time in the production and sale of sporting goods before registering as a private entrepreneur.

His business focused on installing children’s playgrounds, and shortly before the war he opened a small shop in Bucha. His work reflected his commitment to community and family, combining practicality with care for others.

On March 15, 2022, during the Russian occupation of Bucha, Yevhenii was killed. Witnesses recalled that he was trying to rescue a wounded friend near School No.4 when Russian forces opened fire on his car. Both men were struck down, and their bodies were later buried alongside other victims near the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called.
His remains were recovered during exhumations in April 2022.

Yevhenii is remembered by his parents and brother as a devoted son and sibling, a man of integrity and kindness whose life was cut short by violence.

He was laid to rest in his native village of Vladyslavka.

The memory of Yevhenii Marenko endures as that of a bright student, dedicated entrepreneur, and caring family member. His legacy remains in the hearts of his loved ones, a symbol of resilience and humanity in the face of tragedy.
