Biography

Dmytro Borysovych Holdak was born on October 29, 1996, in the town of Mostyska, Lviv region. He pursued higher education at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, specializing in law. From an early age, he was drawn to service and responsibility, combining his professional knowledge with a strong sense of duty to his country.

In 2015, Dmytro began his military career under contract with the 7th Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. After completing training at the Main Personnel Training Center, he became a canine inspector, serving at the Rava-Ruska checkpoint. His love for dogs and dedication to the canine service defined much of his early career, where he earned respect for his professionalism and commitment.

Following Russia’s full-scale invasion, Dmytro was deployed to combat missions near Klishchiivka in Donetsk region between November 2022 and January 2023 as part of a combined unit from the 7th Border Detachment.

Later, he continued his service as a canine inspector at the Dyakove border post. In March 2025, he transferred to the Main Department of Unmanned Aviation Systems “Phoenix,” part of the 3rd Border Detachment named after Hero of Ukraine Colonel Yevhen Pikusa. There, he served as a UAV operator, carrying out reconnaissance and strike missions with his crew.

On September 24, 2025, during combat near the settlement of Dovha Balka in Donetsk region, Dmytro was killed in an enemy artillery strike.

His comrades knew him by the call sign “Gold,” a name that reflected his resilience and steadfastness.

For his courage and sacrifice, he was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class.

Dmytro Holdak was laid to rest in his native Mostyska, Lviv region.

Known as a caring son, loyal brother, and steadfast defender of Ukraine, he lived with courage, dignity, and deep dedication to his country.
