Biography

Denys Mykolaiovych Boikov was born on February 20, 1981, in the city of Ternivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. Coming from a mining family, he followed in their footsteps and began working in coal extraction at the age of 18.

Over the years, he built a career marked by dedication and responsibility, eventually serving as assistant section chief at the Pavlohradska mine.

Denys devoted nearly three decades of his life to the mining industry, becoming a respected figure among colleagues. He was known for his calm character, reliability, and ability to motivate and guide others. Six days a week he gave himself fully to his work, ensuring the safety and efficiency of his team. His only day off was reserved for his family, with whom he shared simple joys - trips to the countryside, walks with the family dog, and time spent at their summer house.
In recent years, he also developed a passion for woodworking, creating handmade items that reflected his patience and skill.

On February 1, 2026, tragedy struck. While returning home from work in a company bus, Denys and his fellow miners were attacked by Russian drones near Ternivka. Twelve lives were lost that day, including his.

Denys Boikov is remembered not only as a miner but as a pillar of his family. He was a devoted husband and father, a man whose presence gave strength and reassurance to his loved ones. His daughter, studying in Ternopil, knew she could always rely on him for guidance and support. His wife, Olena, recalls his kindness and the harmony they shared throughout their life together.

Denys was laid to rest in his native Ternivka. He is survived by his wife, daughter, mother, and two sisters. His memory endures as that of a civilian hero of Ukraine’s energy front - an ordinary man whose life embodied resilience, responsibility, and love for his family and homeland.
