Biography

Volodymyr Hryhorovych Bohdan was born on October 9, 1988, in the city of Nizhyn, Chernihiv region. He studied at the Kyiv Vocational Energy College, where he mastered the profession of tower crane operator. In civilian life, he worked at the company “Orientyr-Budelement,” dedicating himself to construction and craftsmanship. His skills and perseverance reflected his character - responsible, hardworking, and always striving to improve himself.

When Russia launched its full-scale invasion, Volodymyr joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 132nd Separate Reconnaissance Battalion of the Air Assault Forces. Initially appointed as a senior reconnaissance operator, he later became a squad commander. His comrades knew him by the call sign “Kran,” a name he chose as a tribute to his civilian profession.

Volodymyr fought with courage and resilience, carrying out missions in some of the most dangerous areas of the front. He was respected as a loyal comrade, a devoted husband, and a loving father of two sons. His strength of character, optimism, and readiness to help others inspired those around him, both in civilian life and on the battlefield.

On September 15, 2024, during a combat mission near the village of Lysivka in Donetsk region, Volodymyr was killed in action.

His service and sacrifice were recognized with numerous honors, including the Presidential distinction “For the Defense of Ukraine,” the award “30 Years of Military Intelligence of Ukraine,” a commendation from his battalion commander, and posthumously, the Order “For Courage,” 3rd Class.

Junior Sergeant Volodymyr Bohdan was laid to rest at Myhalivske Cemetery in Nizhyn. His memory endures as a symbol of bravery, devotion, and love for his homeland. He is remembered as a man who lived with dignity, fought with honor, and gave his life for the freedom and independence of Ukraine.
